The last thing I needed was another rosie. But I went to Petco today, hoping to pick up an A seemani that I saw there awhile back, if it was still there. If not, no big deal. Well, I get there to find that the seemani was recently sold, but they had two rosies. Then I notice one of them was kind of an orangish color, rather than the typical pinkish brown. Goody, an RCF! So of course I picked up the little one... He/she is around 3 1/2 - 4" and oh-so-cute. I'll get pics as soon as I can arrange to borrow a camera from a sibling.

Alright, here are some pics. She settled into her hide right away, so I had to coax her out. this was my result:

such a cute little threat pose...

and here's a better pic:

it looks like there's this white powdery stuff on her carapace- any ideas?

awesome!! she's a cutie!!! How exciting... I have a RCP rosie also and mine is fiesty too.... congrats...

PS: the white stuff might be mold/fungus if its cottony.... hope not tho... I heard you can dab one drop of isopropyl on it w/ a q-tip periodically and that should keep her on the safe side until the next molt... not too sure though... try to figure it out just in case! She's beautiful..

it doesn't look like mold or fungus, though that was my first thought... It almost seems like she was sprinkled with calcium dust or something... I'm gonna let her settle in for a few days before trying to mess with her anymore... she's stressed enough as it is...

Nice looking spider. Your probably right about the dust. Good luck with her.
