She's a pretty little fawn girl, but when you say you hope she's "more like her breed", what exactly do you mean by that? I bred Pits for 17 years, nearly 18, before having to give them up due to people coming in my yard and stealing them while I was at work. A TRUE Pit Bull temperament does not recognize any difference between a total stranger and a member of the family. Contrary to the media-fed popular belief, this breed should not exhibit ANY aggression towards humans whatsoever. Now, with other dogs that's a different matter, although they can be socialized to behave around other dogs. If a disaggreement occurs, though, those instincts to win at all cost(known as "gameness")will kick in.

As for the Dobe, Dobermans were bred to serrve as bodyguards for people when there is a geniune threat. They aren't supposed to show aggression, either, unless it's really needed. Yours is like most of the Dobes I've met. Pit Bulls love to curl up on the furniture, too, and lay sprawled out on the floor like squashed toads, with their back legs sticking out behind them. They hate cold weather and rain(unlike my Standard Poodle, who lives for bad weather), so they, too, can give the impression of being wussies who'll melt if a drop of rain hits them when you're trying to pursuade one to leave the house long enough to go outside and "potty".

Thanx for the input, my remark about the "acting her breed " was more ment as a joke, I have been specialiest on Dobes so I am well aware of how they are. How ever they were not bred for guarding purposes, they were bred for cattleing, hunting etc. It is a misconseption that they are bred for guarding. They do have outstanding instincts, wich makes them good dogs for guarding as long as u don't leave them in the yard. they r defenetly NOT junkyard dogs, neither r pits for that matter, my friend bred AmStaffs for 14 years and I learned a lot from her over the years. Both breeds are family dogs, as long as u keep in mind that they are working dogs, so they tend to get bored when not challanged enough.
Just wanted to clear this up, before ppl here think that i'm just one of those ignorant ppl
thanx for all the post

I thought that although doberman's were bred from terriers and herding breeds, they were perfected as guard-dogs by Louis Dobermann for protection while he was collecting taxes
