Ooooooh shiny! Quite a nice gift to get! Maybe next year you'll get a girlie as a gift!

Nice, how big is it? Is it an adult?
Since you sound unfamiliar with them, just know that to own one of these roaches outside of Australia normally costs up to and over a hundred dollars. They are the caviar, the classic corvette, the Boba-Fett-with-launching-missile of the cockroach world.

They get pretty darn big, and can live 7-10 years!

nah, I know this species very well, Its just that recently I bought a species because it looks just like the M.rhinoceros wondering if it was the species I thought it was. As for cost I have seen them going for $300 a pair in USA

also hard to tell on size without a ruler or hand for size comparison...

Thats a nice looking pet. ;) You will probably have him for a long time, so Bob will really be like the family pet. :)

That's why I want one, because it's one of the few insects you can know as on a one-to-one basis for the long run instead of an ever-cycling colony.

u can guss its age stage like "its adult or not" by the head plates shape, the edge of the male's head plates will go upwards very obviously..and two pop up there like a "low horn"...sorry i cant descriped well...hope u understand what i mean.

Do they turn brown when they get older? Or, does it depend on what they eat, like hissers? How old are yours? At what age do they breed?

My five year old son has a pet male dubia named Biggie. As soon as he comes home he runs to it to say hello. He takes it out and dances with it singing "I believe I can fly.... I believe I can reach the sky....." Funny huh!

Can someone help me get my jaw up off the floor??

Not really into roaches anymore but I'd love one of these guys.
