so i already had 4 cats, and a dog. but this little guy won my heart over at the local shelter, and i was able to convince my husband to let me rescue him as my birthday present.
his name is "mojo rising," and his previous owner dropped him off at animal control because they were moving somewhere that didn't allow pets (sad, isn't it?). anyway, he's about 6 years old and lost his front right leg 3 years ago to an illegal snare trap.
when i went to visit with him, he curled up on my lap and started purring, with no interest in doing anything else.
i'm just glad i can give this poor guy a second chance.

more pictures to come when he's better adjusted to the new surroundings. i'm letting him hide next to me (behind the bed) until he feels more secure.

well, this little guy has been to the vet now. seems to have a heart murmur, but we're not going to pursue clinical work unless his health appears in danger.

and like i thought, he's probably 7-8 years old and has lousy teeth. :wall:

the good news is that we still love him. :D

He's beautiful! It's so wonderful you adopted an older cat. Most people just want kittens and I always feel so bad for all those cute older kitties at the shelter. I want to take them all home :)

I once saw this cat while I was delivering newspaper to ppl's houses (I get paid $25 an hour so back off) it was a grown cat but it was almost the size of a kitten. I wanted one like that, but I'm cool with mines cause I found him and he grew up rather cute and fuzzy so I'm very content hahaha.

Nice cat though! Neat pics {D

A cat is a good pet so long as people don't treat it like a dog. Nice cat though.
My partner has two black and white short hairs. I don't care much for either of them but they constantly sleep in my clothes and the nicer of the two constantly tries to sleep on me.

It's got captivating eyes.

Congrats! He's a beautiful cat. I have a cat that looks amazingly like him. Thanks for saving an older shelter kitty!

That is wonderful, congratulations on your new baby!!! He is a cutie, what an adorable face. Don't let his lack of a leg bother you. We have a dog with 3 legs, (well he actually has 4 but the 4th was deformed at birth and he can't use it to walk) he can do anything our other dogs can do. I had thought he would have problems since he is missing a front leg, but it doesn't slow him down. He can even dig holes in the yard, slowly, but he can do it. He runs very fast as well, however he does have a slight problem braking after running fast, so he either runs into our big 85 lb dog to stop him, or he drops and skids to a stop. Thank you for not only adopting an older animal, but one with a disability.

the old man has really come out of his shell. :D
he still prefers to sleep behind our bed, but comes out more often for water, bathroom runs, and just to sit on the bed or dog crate and "observe."
his appetite has improved (he was fasting when we got him, and i'm sure he had been going days without food at the shelter due to stress), and his desire for attention is as strong as it could ever be.

the funny thing is that i actually WANTED a 3-legged cat. it feels even better knowing he's older, because all too often they get overlooked by adopters.
