I've recently, as in two weeks ago, became the owner of a jumping spider (phidippus regius, t4, unsure of gender but he has a male shaped but so I'm going with "him" for now).

Yesterday i gave him his first cricket in the morning, it was slightly bigger than the spider (who is about 11mm atm). He ate it all up then promptly went into his hide. As he was walking into his cave, a small white ball came out of his butt. He spent the day in his hide, all night then this morning he finally stuck his head out, came out, did a poo (again, white) and went back in. Normally he spends his days jumping around his enclosure.

Is this normal? What is this white stuff? Could be be getting ready to moult? Any answers greatly appreciated. I've never owned a spider before and I just want to make sure he's not sick or anything.

I do not think 'he' is sick, especially if he just ate. It is possible that the jumper is full, and is digesting his food in his webbing. Did the spider eat yesterday? Also, if possible, it is better to give them prey that is at least as large, if not smaller, than the jumping spider, At least from my experience. It is fine, they just don't need that much food at once and it heightens the chances of them being hurt. The white stuff is poop.

Nah, it's just poo, he's alright :]

Sounds like a healthy guy.
