Well, my equine-oriented wife finally did the deed: She bought me a horse last night. He's a 14-ish year old Clydesdale/Tennesee Walking Horse cross (In other words, for you Star Wars geeks, he's a "Clydeswalker" tee hee hee). I was going to get a motorcycle, but my driving record made insuring it a nightmare this season, so of course I named him Harley.

He's waay cool, 16.1h, and as quiet as a mouse. He's also got a gait, so he'll be able to keep up with my bride's Missouri FoxTrotter... Yay!

I'll post pics when I get some this weekend.

Thanks for listening all!

Hey, nice!

I never got into the gaited breeds, I only ever had Arabs, Saddlebreds, or crosses of the two. What was his original name? We never renamed ours, though there were a couple that needed renaming (Honestly, who names such a pretty mare "Lulee?"). My trainer bought a stallion from Canada who's original name was "Elbow." Poor guy, he got renamed "Claude" which is much more fitting.

Please post pictures! I miss my babies, so have to live vicariously through others, along with occasional visits to my trainer's farm.

Yeah, he's definitely guaranteed to have a lot of body. 16H really isn't that tall, I had an Arab/Saddlebred show gelding that was 16.3H but he's nowhere near as beefy as Darkeye's new mount surely is!

Hey Leanne! How's it been?
Well, as far as we know, he didn't come with a name. He was bought out of auction last night (I didn't get to bed until almost 2!) and the guy had a bunch of horses from the OK/MS area. Most were beautiful animals very broken and easy to love and ride. One was even an experienced roping horse at 4!!!! Wowieeee.

Saddlebreds are a little too high strung for my taste. I like a couch (at least for now... I never seriously rode before this!). I will get pics tomorrw and post tomorrow night.

Thanks all!

Pics!

Here's the big guy. Harley is a very cool toy.
Rather than "bomb-proof" I like to think of him as a "Fallout Shelter"! Very quiet, very composed.

I love my wife for doing this for me more than she will ever know.

Here he is:

Congratulations Darkeye, I am a horse owner also. Have been since I was a youngen,, we have a meriad of breeds. Mustangs, Quarters, Arabs. and a Mule. 8 in all..I need to spend more time with them, on them... :8o We border Forest service property, and Indian land. the riding is seriously endless.

Here's our latest. I see I need to update pictures on him. He was just a few days old here. I weaned him about a month ago. The mare is with the stud again for next years baby.
