Super super excited today! Just recieved my new H. Lividium about 10 min ago. It's really really small, the smallest T I've ever had, and was wondering what kind of set up I should use for it. I have it in a tupperware container lined with wet napkins and on one end I made a little hide out of napkins for him. Is this a good set up? I don't want to put it into the cage I had made for it because I don't think the humidity would be good enough. And, should I crush crickets heads for it? or will really really small live cricks be good enough? I always watch when my spiders eat and if they don't eat right away I remove the cricks so there won't be a chance for a crick to hurt it. The Lividium is about the size of a dime right now. Can't wait for this badboy or girl (hopefully) to grow up and show me how awesome it really is.

Edit: I'll try and get a picture up but camera is out of batteries now.

Regards,
Joshua

I have 2 little H.lividums just under 1/2 inch. I keep mine in 12 dram pill vials, about 2 in. tall x 1 in. diameter. I half filled with fine coconut fibre, moist not wet. They have both dug burrows and take small live crix. I like to keep all my small slings this way. I feed 4 to 5 times a week. This seems to work for me. Good luck.

You mean Dramamine pill vials?
>>no he means "dram".It's the unit of measurement used for pill bottles.Usually from about 5 dram to about 50 dram sizes are used dependant on species and size of slings. You can usually find the dram size on the bottom of the pill bottle/vial.

If you use small crickets ( the crix I usually buy as "small" are about 1/8" long) you shouldn't have a problem. H. lividum are pretty tough spiders. Not sure of the size of the container you have it in now but I would say it's probably okay. Cobalts dig and once they dig they don't come out of the burrow to hunt (at least IME). I have had mine in a mayonnaise jar for the past three months and it is content to just stay in its burrow and wait for something to come to it. As small as it is the napkins might work okay but I prefer peat moss. It gives the T something to burrow in and makes it feel more secure. But, as often as it should be molting you might now have to worry about it for a while. Good luck.

I keep my 1/2 inch slings in "SPICE SHAKER" jars like you get at Wal-Mart.

Alright, thanks everyone for the tips. I got a pic now.

Edit: I heard that male H. Lividiums aren't blue? Is this true?
