Hey guys I know it’s been a while since I’ve been on here but I did have a couple of questions for the lizard people here. Firstly a little bit of backstory; I found a young Mediterranean house gecko outside work yesterday have frozen to death. I brought it inside and kept it in a small cup and that inside a larger foam to cup to hopefully insulate it a little better. Fortunately the little guy was able to defrost and was acting a lot livelier, after work I went and did the unthinkable and bought supplies from a pets mart.
From a little bit of research I figured a 10 gallon terrarium would be ok. I’ve been keeping it in the recommended temp and humidity ranges (including letting it cool off a little bit at night), it has access to water dish (and misting twice a day), and of course plenty of decent sized hide.
So I come with a couple of questions;
1 should I try to feed it now or just let it be as it adjusts to its new home for the next week or so?
2 it’s about 2 inches in length including the tail, so I bought feed gel and meal worms, any other recommendations besides flightless fruit flies (simply because my mother would have my head if those got out at all)
3 while not required I do think it would be nice to be able to sex it, so any tips on that?
Thank you guys for any help.
Oh and to clarify yes it was wild caught, but first this is an invasive species here in South Carolina where I live, and devour was more of a no thinking rescue since it was mid twenties outside.
