We seem to keep uncovering more and more minute Malagasy fauna, a new mouse lemur species was discovered last year. There is so much of our own world that has yet to be discovered, and tragically so much that is being destroyed before we even have the chance. Looking at Madagascar alone, lemurs are now the most endangered group of primates in the world, and even the once common ringtail is now listed as endangered.

I was so lucky last year to have the chance to work with lemurs here in the US, and it was a truly life changing experience. There is nothing like standing in a hallway and realizing every single animal in your sight could go extinct within your lifetime. It changes your perspective forever.

Here's to hoping this little chameleon gets the chance it deserves.

I just can't help wondering how many species have been made extinct due to humans before even being discovered?
