Went in to a local pet shop to pick up dinner for all the critters and ended up with three new A. A's and there setup. I have wanted to make a setup with 2 or 3 Avic's for awhile now but was just to attached to the ones I had to risk them like that, So I walked into this petshop and here is this setup with 3 Avic's, I asked how much he would take for the setup. He said $70 and I thought that was fair so I said done. I thought ever who put this together did a very nice job. Picture is a little dark so I will try to get a better picture later.

Looks very nice.

But I don't think you're going to have three new Avic avics for very long in there.....

That is somewhat similar to my own community setup, but mine is a standard 20 gallon layout with a sliding screen lid and a lot more branches and a fake grapevine for them to make hides amongst. I also have 3 in mine. Good luck. So far so good with mine. They all ate well when I first got them in there and dumped about a dozen or so crix in with them. When ever 2 of them come too close to each other for comfort they've spazzed and run in opposite directions, so it looks like it's working out well. For the most part they seem to know where the others are, and keep a fair distance. I'm planning to dump more crix in tomorrow and keep 'em all nice and full to limit any reasons to thump on each other.

I have a 4th A.avic that is kept seperately for now, and though it seems to be a color morph I can't find anything about it to indicate it's not an A.avic, which is what they had it labelled as when they sold it to me at the local shop... Well, they call 'em "pink toe" of course, but generally they sell A.avic under that common name at this store. I'ts just a DARK chocolate brown rather than the typical irridescent black that most are. I've seen "Peruvian wooly pink toe" (most closely resembling Avicularia azuraklaasi, but much more of a brownish coloration) at this store before, but this isn't one of those... My knowlege of A.avics is somewhat limited, as they've not really gotten my interest until recently... I'm wondering if this might be a male A.avic? That would be perfect!:D

The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking I should ask the owner to get some more of those "Peruvian" in and get a couple, since I can't seem to find anything matching it precisely on birdspiders.com......:?

Although I'm just a newbie, I would say that my gut reaction is to suggest you do something similar and add many more leaves/vines/cork/vegetation, etc. to give them more places to hide. It might mean you'll see them all a bit less, but it would be better than never seeing the other two after the top Avic has a snack. ;)

I was thinking the same thing. I think you have the beginning of a good communal set-up, but you need to have more hides for the T's so they can all have their own seperate space.

You may want to add a couple more pieces of corkbark and a few more fake plants. If each T has its own hide, the chances will be better that they will all co-habitate in peace.

Yeap that is what I was planing on doing also, I just saw this setup and thought it was very nice looking but yes I believe it does need a little more in the two front corners of the cage. Have only had it for a day now but so far all seems really good (one day at a time) I will keep an update on this as to how it goes, if there is any breeding or late night cannibalism.

It is a beautiful setup. I can't seem to find any nice, tall aquariums like that. It looks perfect for arboreals.

I hope you don't get any cannibalism and instead have armies of adorable baby pinktoes to love. :D
