Well, starting my week off, my A. versicolor molted. She was in bad need of a molt when I left for a camping trip last weekend. When I got back she was almost ghost-white, and I was thinking "Oh, crap....I'm gonna lose my favorite T." Woke up on Monday to find a vibrant, and healthy little girl...that needed a new enclosure. A few days before that, my female G, rosea molted while I was out for the day. Came back to find her curling up, so I put her cage in the bathroom, and took an extended shower. It was like giving Popeye a can of spinach!!
Yesterday, I rehoused them both. My rosie is kept in a 5-gallon, but I had wanted to make a few modifications to it for a while. I turned the tank on its side, and made a front-loading terrestrial setup with alot more substrate, and a live plant. Charlotte is usually pissed about rehousings, but she took to it like nobody's business. My versi sling was in a 4 oz spice jar, and outgrew it with this molt. I transferred her to a 32 oz deli cup, which she is really happy with.
Now to the exciting part!!!! I went through www.tarantulainc.com once again, and ordered me some new additions.
Avic avic (2"-3" juvie)
Heteroscodra maculata
Lasiodora parahybana
Poecliotheria regalis
Pterinochlius murinus RCF (OBT!!! Yeah, baby!!!
)
Stromatopelma calciatum
Originally, I had ordered a GBB, but they were sold out. So, I decided to get the P. regalis and S. cal instead. I'm really excited about this order....however, I have to wait until they get back from the Breeders Convention in Daytona. I should be receiving them either Friday or Saturday. The anticipation makes it feel like Christmas in August!!! I set up their new enclosures already, and find myself staring at my bookshelf waiting for the day to come, and imagining all the fun I'm going to have unpacking those little beauties!!! I'll update this thread with some pics when I can get them.
