so i was wondering today. how many of you were arachnophobic befor you got tarantulas?

I was a complete arachnaphobe.. I would run and scream like a little.. Well I will leave it at that.. I am still quite skittish with true spiders.. Even very careful with my T's..

But yea.. I was..

I always thought they were cool and wasn't scared of them.

I was always interested in them.. but would keep a great distance. I wasn't frightened enough to jump on a chair when I saw one, but I'd use something very long to catch them and let them out. If one ever landed on me, I'd freak out! Now I can't stop handling the Ts! Took me about a week of slowly handling them bit by bit to overcome my fear. (Handled them with a thick sweater, pants and thick leather gloves at first.. Now I just scoop them out of their cages)

Im with Redneck and Xian.

I think true spiders are neat now (used to cry and scream at the sight of one lol) but they still kinda freak me out.

Love my T's, but Im still cautious with them.

I have never been afraid of any bugs.
I was the girl at school, catching the bugs that other kids were screaming about, and letting them go outside
I used to catch honey bees and black widows in my spare time as a child... and any other manner of creature I could get ahold of, like centipedes, millipedes, scorps, etc.

It's two legged critters I stay away from! LOL

When I was young, my Mom took me to one of those giant variety pet stores, and said I could pick anything I wanted.

I never was afraid, I was always catching bugs and spiders. When I was really little my mom and I used to go catch banana spiders when we lived in florida.

i didnt mind most bugs but roaches and spiders that moved faster than i could swat freaked me out. i remember turning over a rotten railroad tie once looking for bugs and a LOT of big flying roaches came out of it and literally ran me back in the house. hard to believe i would handgrab a snake in a heartbeat but a bunch of roaches made me turn tail like the french army

I remember watching Arachnophobia when I was like 4 or 5. The entire movie was a comical and a commentary for me. "Spiders don't do that... That's totally unrealistic!"

I've always liked spiders.
