Yesterday my GF and I bought a new little puppy for us, it's apparently a border collie (but is undoubtedly crossed with another breed), we've named him bandit (not sure if this is what it'll stay at or not)

Here are some pictures:

He's a psycho right now, and lonely because i'm at my house :(

He is ADORABLE! How old is he? Also, where did you get him?

He's about 7 weeks old (from what we were told). It was a private sale from a person whose dog had puppies.

We've already had him semi-trained to sit on command (will do it after a couple of tries usally), up next is to "come here".

Our goal is to teach him to round up my GF's family's chickens and turkeys, and herd them into the sheds.

I wonder what the cross is... kinda looks a bit german shepard, or a shepard of some kind...
With those BC genes, they should be great at herding, they do it naturally.

a buddy of mine has a border collie black lab mix. it's one of the dumbest dogs i've ever met. it's funny because she's fat and just lays around all the time wanting some love.

i also know the mom dog (border collie) and she is extremely smart.

Cute dog! Almost looks like a little bit of rottweiler (sp?) in him, judging by the chest and facial markings. Just a guess...

we were thinking it might be mixed with a Rottweiler, either way he's cute and fun. We both love the little fella.

Most BCs need a job to do or they will be extremely bored.....and a bored dog is not good. Keep his mind stimulated, try some agility or other things that keep his brain active.
Depending on what he's crossed with though, he could be quite calm. Lots of Border collies and Australian shepherds on my mail route....most of them try to herd my truck. It's hilarious.

Thanks for the kind words towards the little doggy, this thread will be updated on a regular basis (presuming that it stays cute and cuddly) as the GF and I tend to take pictures on a regular basis.

Holley, I've been working on his levitation trick quite extensively, as you can see, it's working ;P, but seriously, he's learning commands/tricks pretty fast...

I'm late in coming to this post, and I usually just lurk, but I research dogs quite often and, well, dog breeds are kind of my business you could say (but I am NOT a breeder). if I had to guess solely from pictures, he could be a BC/Australian Shepherd mix, or maybe a BC/German Shepherd mix. Australian Shepherds commonly have the black and tan markings your pup has, and the face is wider than most BC puppies, but not so long as a GSD mix would usually have. Just my opinion though. Either way, good luck! :)
