It's been some time since I purchased a new T but I had this offer put in front of me and I couldn't pass it up. I've always liked Thrixopelma but with this purchase, it has been set in stone as my favorite species. What do you all think of her?

T. cyaneum

That is a beautiful sight. The blue is amazing! I'm not familiar with this species but looking at the bulkiness of this spider, I'm assuming that it's a New World tarantula?

Your right. It is a new worlder from South America but they don't get very big. 4 or 4 1/2 inch leg span is the adult size.

I was able to hold her but being in a new envirenment and still unsure, I doubt that'll last long. I've heard they have about the same temperment as a T. pruriens which is comparable (in my opinion) to B. vagans.

That is a gorgeous T! Pus others to shame! How long since her last molt? I am interested to know whether they stay so nice and cyan or not.

was about 5-6 months ago when she molted. she molted first, then my other cyaneolum specimen molted a couple months later and died in process. :(

@spartybassoon: she does stay nice and blue, for the most part. when she approaches a molt, she'll darken up a lot.

good luck with her, jeremy.

@clearlysaid: yes she does resemble a nice blue rosea. actually i've heard of such a thing as a blue phase rosea. as to the validity of that, im not sure.

her disposition (while in my care) was pretty good. you barely touch her, she raises her abdomen and is ready to let the hair loose  but once you get her on your hand, she's the sweetest lil' thing ever.

Thanks Dan. I'll need the luck considering the abundence of the this species, or lack there of and it's breeding difficulty.

Will do. I'll have a bit of a head start with the T. pruriens because I have a male on the way. This will help a lot since they are from close to the same location. I'm deffinitly going to monitor this closely.

I recieved my second T. cyaneum (cyaneolum) today from MizM and I think it's another girl. A molt will tell me for sure but I'm just wondering if I'll be able to find a male when the time is right. lol...I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I'll post more pics of both my girls this weekend. Thanks MizM. ;)

Here are a few updated pics. The first three pics are more of the first female. The last two are pics of the slightly larger one I recieved from MizM. You can see there is more prominant red satea on the abdomen of the larger one. It's still only about 3 1/2 inch leg span with the smaller one at 3. Enjoy.

Thrixopelma cyaneolum (female)

This pic is with the flash. The last two, it was off.

MizM's T. cyaneolum. (unsexed)

Nice T. It's body structure reminds me of a GBB, but with a full body turquoise sheen to it.
Very nice!
What are those running know a days?

Thanks. I picked them up for around 150 a piece. I'm not sure what the going price is but that's what they were worth to me.
