An amazing photo, the lizard could not even tear the web much.

those webs can get sparrows sometimes...
i've used Nephila's web as a temperory moth net (i caught one in the mountain and made her spin a web infront of my window)since there were just too many at night seeking for the light and it worked like a charm!
but soon i gave up cuz that's a really big web, 3-4m, and i ran into it sometimes which is kinda annoying..

Is it true that sometimes these or similar webs can be used as fish nets? They must be as strong as a black widow or stronger.

What I can remember is somthing like fishermen can use certain spider webs in place of regular fishing nets. They supposedly can catch fish I am not certain of fish size but considering what we have seen , maybe. I believe it was in the south seas I do not know where possibly someone else can clarify or add more. I would love to see a picture of this

Amazing photos.

I remember reading somewhere that sometimes they use multiple webs, laying one on top of the other. So the fish they catch may be a nice size..

what's the fishing thing about? but i'll put my bet on widow webs..
You probably wouldn't be able to use a widow web for fishing easily, even if they were strong enough (Nephilia silk is said to be 10x stronger than steel wire of the same length and diameter, the strongest of the spiders I hear), widow webs are just sooooo darn messy {D they do a good job of catching bugs with there haphazard design though.
