Hi all,
I was considering raising nephila clavipes, I was wondering if anyone had a link or maybe some instructions to build a webbing display case?

I built one before but it was just ok and based on my memory of seeing one at a zoo.

thanks for any help you can provide

same as most other effective orb weaver displays, just much larger. most of what i tried was far too small for N. maculata. i tried a 20 gallon and it made a sort of almost usefull web...

Big Nephilas make Big Webs

I've been having the same problem, Nephilas make really large webs, at least a meter wide, so it's hard to keep them in a tank, they will almost always be too small for them, the best idea up to now is to place her on a tree i have on my front yard, I already told everyone about it so nobody will harm her, she'll have lots of room to bild her web and there's no need to worry about food, she can catch her own bugs.

Other then that i am still developing a terrarium for a smaller web spider and as soon as ready i'll have some pics to share.

Bets regards.

honestly, i'm not sure what i would use. as has been said, their webs are huge. that is the main reason i haven't added one to my collection. they are all over the place down near my neighborhood...i just don't think i have anything large enough for them. if you can find a bunch of them..maybe you could try relocating a few into your back yard or something. otherwise, i would find the largest aquarium you are willing to buy. something wide and tall. maybe you could get a large clear plastic container. not sure i've seen any quite like that on sale though. i'm thinking specifically of the really large tupperware containers you would store blankets in that are about as long as a 2 person bed is wide.

Well, you take two ficus trees and place them about a meter apart in an unused alcove - just a thought.

Ditto. Had the same (almost) idea. I have a nice, big Ficus in my room. Would put the spider right there and let him do whatever he wants. Pity that Nephila sp. aren't available here in Poland :( Yet! :)
