Of the two common species we have here I'm not sure which but the biggest I've ever came across period.

Lots of spidery activity starts to happen in late summer where I live.

By luck I was able to get some pictures of her doing some moves that would make anything from the matrix look like it was sitting still and the amount of webbing she was putting out to wrap her meal up looks neat in these pictures.

As a bonus. If you look at top of her abdomen. It's a lion's face and you won't be able to unsee it.

I rarely ever see these anymore, I saw a baby. But my phone camera wasn’t good enough to get a good picture of it.o_O

N. Crucifera found from Maine to Florida.
Lifespan one year.
Latin Name Crucifera translates to Cross Bearer from the pattern on the abdomen.
