I've found dozens of the plainly colored Neoscona crucifera in the back yard. Below is the first Neoscona oaxacensis I have come across. It was tough to get a decent photo of this one. The breeze seemed to keep it constantly out of focus. :)

Thanks! I have never looked into keeping one in captivity. They sure would make interesting captives. If I were single I'd probably have a big and beautiful Nephila roaming the living room. Heheh. :)

ive kept a few neoscona hentzi (i think) and they havent lasted too long in captivity, i cant seem to figure out why.

I've kept very few, but they need a large captive environment, due to their lustrous web-weaving techniques. I've kept very few, and the longest living orb-weaver kept was 8 months.

Here is another photo of a different unidentified Orb Weaver. It is eating a bee. I wanted to take a dorsal shot, but there was no easy way around the web.
