i found a young wood scorpion while moving house ive never owned a scorpion before ive had him for 3 months now and he seems to be doing fine but its cold in my room and would like to heat the tank in hopes that he will grow given melbourne is extremely cold at the moment and since i found him he is constantly burrowed i’m assuming since it’s cold i have a water bowl for him but i have never seen him drink out of it but i do spray my tank with water every 2-3 days as i’ve been told they drink from the soil also am wanting to know what plants i could put in his enclosure just to make it look nicer and overall better for his environment

please feel welcome to give me any advice or information about wood scorpions and so on

the more the merrier it’s better i know more than less lol

thankyou :)

Heavily depends on size IMO, smaller scorps can drink water droplets off the sides of the container no problem, and water dishes could be dangerous for them because of the drowning risk. Extremely small scorpions can drown in condensation but do seem to be able to suck moisture out of a wet corner or moist spaghnum moss. Larger scorpions should pretty much all have access to a water dish at least semi regularly depending on how arid they are. For temperate scorpions they should have regular access to water in some form.

Small scorpions are usually fine drinking droplets from surfaces in the enclosure. For slightly bigger scorpions you could provide something like a bottle cap filled with very small stones that will make sure the scorp can't drown.

As far as temperature goes, it's natural for them to be in hibernation right now in the Melbourne winter. It will get more active as it starts warming up again. Heating the enclosure should make it more active, but I personally like to provide the seasonal temperature fluctuations they experience in nature.

This.

Small bottle cap water bowl is my go to for the little ones.
