I have problem with smell in my breeding room where I have lizards/tarantulas/scorps and many, many insects. I would like to push some thing for refreshing the air and maybe lower the smell a bit, but I don't know what can be harmfull for my critters...any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

i can probably check individual products for you, but i won't find what ones are good

try searching, this has come up from time to time... you can probably rule out some products juts from doing a search on here and seeing what has been ruled out in the past

Have you tried baking soda? A few boxes placed in strategic locations around the room may be beneficial.

I did never try anything before cose I didn't have similar situation...I would give it a try, you think it can neutralize smells and odors of animals by just being put around the room? Did you try it?

Let me just state the obvious . . .

Keep the cages clean and there will be no smell . . .

I got frogs, snakes, Ts, lizaerds, and all kindsa feeders, but the one thing I dont have is a foul stench permiating from the room . . .

I've never used it for that purpose, but it works wonders for refrigerators, closets, etc.

i have to agree with pacmaster. but i also have to disagree, i breed mice and unless i kill off all my males it smells like pee(even after 3 cage changes a week) what i did to neutralize my odor problem. was i got a pillow case and filled it with baking soda, i then just laid that on the top of the aquarium i have my mice in....it wont get rid of the smell completly but it does work wonders. And thats after 3 weekly cage cleanings.MICE STINK! i guess if you could afford it an "ionic breeze" works awsome too.

Well, there is no chance it wont smell like there are some animals in even if you clean them. I clean mine all the time and there are so many that it must smell different...you can't clean 7 species of insects, 300 t's, 40 lizards and African rats that often that you don't have any smell, so in the end, I will install one bigger fan on the window and put pipes outside so it can take all the odor outside. Thanks anyway!

rodents do tend to give off a stink even if changed regularly ..good ventilation and trays of activated charcoal from your local pet store will work wonders...baking soda doesn't really work half as well as the charcoal it works 10x better in your fridge as well.

Where should I put charcoal? Inside the enclosure or just around or in the room somwhere?
