I have kept Kenyan Sand Boas before in the past, and they are very neat snakes to work with. They only reach 2-3 feet so they don't require alot of space. They breed readily under the proper conditions. Ideal temperature gradient is 75-87. Many people make the mistake of keeping them on sand due tot their common name, but this can be very dangerous for the snakes. They will injest the sand and it can cause impaction in their gastrointestinal tract and even death. I have found that shredded newspaper works the best as a substrate.

I have also found that unless you start them off at an early age, they can be a bit reluctant to feed on frozen/thawed rodents. I prefer f/t as food for my snakes, so it can be a pain if they want live rodents instead.

There is tons of more detailed info out there since they are a fairly commonly kept/bred species, so this is just a small overview of them in general.

I have Kenyans!! Anerytheristic and the really ORANGE ones (flame). Theyre the SWEETEST snakes alive!!
I feed mine F/T mice. I had one as a baby reluctant to eat. But I just put the mouse (F/T pinkie) in a bag and put the snake in with it and leave it for a few hours. Works like a charm!! I keep mine on that crushed walnut. They love to burrow in it. I feed them in a different container so they dont injest the substrate. I used shredded newspaper for awhile but they seem happier with the "weight" of the crushed walnut. Not as much wandering and noseing the corners and restlessness if I use a heavier substrate than newspaper. Experiment with yours see what they like best.

My big ole female is pregnant!! Im so excited to see the wee babies! :D

Good choice. Sandboas are wonderful snake!!
