Hey! I got three of these today from a friend of a friend who's been in China studying reptiles. I guess it MIGHT på the TRUE Haplopelma minax, not the the one who is often seen in the hobby. They are HUGE! About 22-23 cm and that's about 9".

Can anyone please help with this?

She looks like she's hiding that mustache. Does she have that white cheliceral "mustache"?
Looks like a Dilaohu, a Selenocosmia hainana (for now).

Check this past thread:

Scroll to the last pic and you'll see the "mustache" evident on the lateral sides of the chelicera. There's some good info there courtesy of Volker and Martin.

They all have the white mustache. What does that mean? Minax or hainana?

Your specimans appear to be what is being sold here in the US as Selenocosmia hainana, or the Black Chinese Earth Tiger.
If your friend has collection locality, please share it with us here. I'm interested in hearing where in China your specimens were collected. It's said that Selenocosmia hainana comes from a very hilly part of Yunnan, in Southern China.

Hi,

dito, from China, large, stocky and with white beard, my guess would also be "Selenocosmia hainana".

here is a fresh molted one (after the molt they are a bit bluishgreenish):

Thank you. I've talked to Soren Rafn as well and he said it was Selenocomsia hainana. Thank's all of you!

Hi "aftershock"!

You want me to tell my opinion to your tarantulas:
I absolute agree to what John and Martin said! This seems to be "Selenocosmia hainana". BTW, you can see a strong brush of hairs on the Femora outside on the Legs of your Specimen (especially on the front legs). This brush is also typical for the Haplopelma schmidti/"Selenocosmia hainana" complex. The real Haplopelma minax doesn't possess such a brush, but looks indeed very similar to the "Selenocosmia hainana"!Furthermore, the real Haplopelma minax has it's spread area in middle - north Thailand!

Cheers, Volker

Hello and thank you very much! It seems like they are all doing fine. I'll sell two of them on sturday though, but I'll keep one.
