Hello I live in the state of California in SoCal. I'm looking into getting a Philippus regius as a first time spider pet but my main concerns are that this state gets out and most houses like mine don't have AC just fans and the house can get to like 70 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. was wondering if that's to hot for them or that be ok.

regius live in florida and prefer 75-85 degrees on a regular basis! in fact if its colder they wont be as active. they need humidity though, i reccomend to get a temp and humidity gage for inside the enclosure since a mismolt without enough humidity can be fatal

so the heat is not the issue just keeping the humidity is.......what would be the best to keep that humidity inside. i kno there are like moss and soil to use that helps it with a daily mist of water or every other day mist?

yes, the humidity is a lot more important to control as the warmer it is the more it dries out as well. because you WANT ventilation too you cant rely on just closing it up to keep humidity in. soil and moss helps a lot. even if you dont use soil, using a dish full of spagnum moss in there is a great way to help it. i personally mist twice a day or more if i need it. you want 70% humidity at least for a molting spider, but on a regular basis you just want to keep it fairly humid and allow them chances to drink.

I have a p. Regius and my pet room is around 78 in the summer. No need for a humidity gage, getting to a specific % is not important. Make sure you have proper ventilation and mist one corner of the enclosure once a day. It’s important that you have proper ventilation so the enclosure doesn’t get to stuffy. The only time I most twice a day is when I know she’s about to molt and to make sure she has enough moisture to properly do so.

I have a tarantula cribs enclosure and they are amazing! I also use coconut fiber for the soil.

mismolts are a very common death in regius, in audax and other sp you will hardly see them happen. i disagree about having a humidity gage. you dont need it, but it helps a lot, and you can be sure if theres an issue with your spider that it was not the parameters. you can do what youd like but its very helpful to have a humidity gage, regius need 70% at minimum to be 100% sure theyll molt completely, even 80-90% is better.
