Hi,

I am fond of a type of orb weaver but don't know what it is so that I may ask for it. I have caught a few of these types. Unfortunately I can't provide a picture of it, but I can provide the following description:

So far, the ones that I have caught are small, about half an inch or so. They don't have your usuall soft body, rather an exoskeleton. This exoskeleton is spiky, at least theones that I have caught, and have a design on them. I was also sent one and the body is in the shape of a spear. Very ineteresing designs. Finally, it makes really nice webs. Very crafty.

Does anybody know what type of orb weaver I am talking about? If anybody can provide pics of this type of orb weaver, could you post them on this thread or send them to me at the following email address: erik_ut_2001@yahoo.com

will appreciate it.

Finally, if someone has them or knows someone that has them, could you let me know. I'd like to buy some.

let me know

Thanks alot!

That doesn't seem like enough info to guess at all. Do you have any spider books? Try getting a field guide to spiders ( or spiders and insects). If you are lucky, your spider will be pictured therein and identified for you. Sounds like what you have found is probably a picture-worthy spider. Good luck!

Do a google image search of Micrathena and see if anything comes up.
