I set on getting a pair of gold dust day geckos (P.lauticada lauticada) but didn't find any at the Manchester show so I have an empty setup. So I don't know if I should wait try to find them or possible just get a pair of crested geckos?

Day geckos are IMO more attractive, they're also active by day, but need full spectrum lighting...Personally, I find crested geckos a bit boring since they're nocturnal, they're also not as attractive. But thats just my opinion.

I voted the first, eventhough I have little clue as of yet (as you know Thoth). I still haven't bought the tokays we talked about recently, (partly still because I'm considering fish, as you also know :D ). But partly also because I'd rather have daylight animals, except ofcourse T's which don't nessessarily hide until it's dark.

Just remember day geckos are strictly vivarium critters. They are difficult to handle (at least in my experience).

Personally I think cresteds are bulletproof and quite interesting.

I'm partial to Crested geckos, pretty easy to look after and cute.

I am a lazy animal keeper, so I keep animals that I can easily accomodate. I like my little crested, hes very cute for a non-tarantula and isn't too much of a pain in the ass. http://www.pangeareptile.com/ has a good crested gecko diet that I feed mine (I hand feed just to monitor and keep the cage cleaner) and I supplement that with weekly cricket feedings that are calcium dusted (I won't keep crickets in my house so they have to die the day of purchase.) The no-UV light and no supplemental heating thing is a great bonus, and my cages are as easy to clean as my tarantulas (I use newspaper/paper towels as substrate and just toss it, they have bird-esque poop which is the only downside I can think of.)

Fini, I don't plan on handling them (seeing how most of my animals are hands off any way.)

I have a vivarium set up for a pair of day geckos which I can easily modify for cresteds (i.e. remove uv and heat lamps and put a normal lamp)

The only real issue is really do I be patient and try to find a pair of gold dusts, which seem pretty scarce at the moment, or get my self a crested now.

Alissa, I'm the same way with crickets they don't spend the night with out becoming food for my other animals.
