cought a couple neat looking aquatic insects last night, fairly big (around 2.5-3inches). Stuck them in with my lethocerus americanus (not a good idea, one became lunch lol {D ). anyways thought you guys would injoy these pics and an id on this aquatic bug, (its true color is olive green, pix just didnt come out with the right color on it), would be nice too, there has been quite a few out and about lately.

and what happens after a giant water bug attacks you and eats you...(if youre a mystery bug)...

in one picture you can see one of the many snails that now live with my giant water bug too, have a littel colony going of 1cm long snails that must of had eggs on the plants, because i didnt introduce them. they help keep the tank clean so i dont mind them one bit though, fast little guys. its rather funny to watch them because they have to go to the surface to breath, so every now and then you can see one haulin @$$ to get to the surface, its just random and i can picture them going "ahh im gonna die!!! ok alll better..." interesting little cycle.

Found the ID myself

well looking at threads on water scorpions i found out this is some species of predacous diving beetle...still no match for the GWB but neat all the same. heres a question for wade if he sees it,(or anyone who keeps them), how easy are water scorpions to get ahold of, and would they live fine in with a GWB? or are they too large and would just get eaten?

Here are pics of a baby Predacious Diving Beetle that hatched from some wild caught dirt. Fairy and Tadpole shrimp was the target species, but I got a lot of cool critters in that batch.

last night i was watching a few of the beetles and they were eating bits of plants and some algea the snails missed on the sticks in the tank...so they deffinately arent carnivorous.
