Naked Mole Rat - Immune to Cancer?

For some of us this comes as old news, naked moles rats have a supposed "immunity" to cancer. I found an interesting new article on the subject explaining that they were also vertebrate of the year at some point. Here's the link:

I found it because my sister is going to the zoo and I asked her to bring me back a naked mole rat. :giggle:

well the topics not too old itself think was late '12 when they said they believed it. but in all honesty i can forsee alot of cures come from nature there is some weird stuff out there... tho mole rats arnt my thing [have you seen the hotdog shape of a queen? weird o.0] but bonus knowledge for you. and you may or may not know/want to know this. the alpha female/"queen" whatever you may.. has a pheromone in its urine that makes the other females sterile... how odd right?

Hahah yea I had heard that :laugh: they're freaky little things aren't they? I have your average run of the mill pet store rat (her mom was a feeder actually that a friend of mine saved) and she is wonderful. I love hairless rats, but man these things a creepy! Very ugly but very cool.

they just look odd to me.. and just some of the facts about them is plain bizarre lmao.. but very nice i have about 15 adult breeder rats [reptile owner but i spoil then up till the day they hit the chamber] i used to find all hairless weird till i got one out of curiosity i got a fuzzy hairless [fzfz gene] and boy was it cool. tho the males...not so much... my fam said they looked like... well...male parts... lmao the pure hairless [hrhr] it was odd. being try in winter tho cuz of my heater i got to bond with my hairless and put lotion on them XD cute? yes! time consuming? ofcourse! worth it... oh yea llmao

anywho back to the mole XD it used to seem cool because of kim possible back in the day.. but when you see one in person the curiosity goes from 123% down to like 26% XD

I loved that show and expected to see this cute little hairless rat thing and then BAM! It looked like male genitalia with teeth!!!! Very scary heheh

well i have one still shes special needs and does kinda like a little swearter i micro-crocheted for her but the others chew them off XC the others dont like it period.. ahahahaha yea i know right they pertrayed it so wrong XD almost like kids now wanting platypus because of a show XD if only they knew :bomb:
