Last night I was showing off some of my T's to some people at the house here. So I decided to stroke Foxy's rear end with my pointer finger. She's has about a 6" legspan, and I,ve never touched her before. I don't know what I was thinking, but I put my hand in her cage and gently touched her butt. Well she spun around in a flash and bang, she hit my finger hard.
But I guess she love's me cause she didn't use her fangs.
She must have heard you don't bite the hand that feeds you.
Anyway it was a lesson well learned. Don't touch Foxy's butt..
And always check a T's mood with a paintbrush before handling.

I feel lucky and stupid.
I hold some of my T's, but not offend. I don't have a fear of them, I just don't feel the need.
All my Aphonoplema's are so calm, I'll hold one of them if someone wants to see me hold one, or if they decide they want to. Other than that, I just care for them.;)

I think we all have the occasional 'brain fart' and do something stupid. Afterwards we quickly realize the error of our ways and can't believe we did it in the first place. That's life.:)

My N. vulpinus is the same way. She rarely gives up her waterdish without some major theatrics. She's the spookiest tarantula I own.

yeah what did your guests think? sometimes when showing mine off ill scream like one bit me just to startle them, usually gets a good reaction.

one of my usumbaras pulls the same thing, ive finally given up trying to take the water dish, i just drop a few drops on the webbing. if you look in the enclosure you can see the waterdish, capsized and webbed over. this same t played tug of war with me over its last molt too, destroying it beyond any hopes of an accurate sexing.

The oldest adult ( 40ish ) jumped back about 3", then set in his chair and didn't move. It shook him up pretty good.
The two young men in there early 20"s, loved it. They wanted to see more T's. I showed them about 10 in all.
I'll tell ya, it got my heart pounding. LOL

Probably if one of my T's did that, it would be me jumping.

I'm glad she didn't bite ya, it's funny how T's have their way of telling us to back off, luckily most of the time this dosen't involve biting.
