Deviating from my usual tarantula posts, I have a weird snail situation.

I'm not a fish person, they're cool, they're pretty, but they're my husband's hobby, not mine. 6 months ago, he brought home what I'm guessing was a Mystery Snail (based on the shape of the shell), another dojo loach, and a small school of zebra danios to go with the two goldfish, dojo, and two surviving danios we already had. Everyone is thriving.

Saturday, I noticed there are three baby snails in our tank. . How does that happen? My understanding is that they're NOT asexual, the local pet store where we got them said that was normal, but it's been six months. The babies are too big for the fish to eat which leads me to believe there may have been more that did end up eaten. But, how? When? Where?

Has this happened to anyone else? I don't mind them at all, they're freaking adorable and there's plenty for them to eat, but I'm just flabbergasted. Here's one, they're probably 1/4 inch? Lol obviously the the pebbles are a good size comparison.

Surprisingly, there are no and have never been any live plants in this tank, and that's what the pet store asked too :zipit:

all it takes is a bit of gravel they do make a semi decent clean up crew in regards to algae etc. but do get out of hand fast in good conditions

Okay now that would make sense. We always drip acclimate and try to avoid getting anything into the tank, but I did let a few random pieces of fern or something go in as a snack... Whoops.

time to set up a predatory fish tank :rofl:then you just scoop out a bunch of lil ones crush em and feed as treats or a puffer tank the snail shells help wear down their constantly growing teeth forgot to add you can also add a crawdad or two they will gobble em up to but will also catch/eat anyfish in the tankthat they can usually at night
