Mystery bug munching on leaves.

I am finding bunches of lilac leaves covered in poop, and having bite marks all over, but I dont see anything eating them, I found over 100 leaves covered in poo, so I doubt it's caterpillars, i would have seen at least 1. I dont think it would be cicadas eating the leaves. All I could find was an earwig and sandy colored weevil that matches the bark. Pictures of the leaf and weevil (blurry) attatched.

you know i recently found a leaf bug that im keeping as a pet now and it poops just like that. It camaflauges with the leafs and might be really hard to see if you dont know what to look for. Let me know what it is when you find it.

Whatever is eating the leaves, must come in swarms, even more leaves have been attacked, and the damage is getting worse! Nothing appears during the day, so i'm going to go out tonight and mabye I will see something.

The leaves will grow back again next year, i'm just curious whats eating them.
