Ok [URL="http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?t=153343"this[/URL] thread reminded me of a beetle I saw about a week ago. I don't have a picture :8o (I was kayaking and had to stop for a thunderstorm). But I was wondering if any one out there could ID this by words, or if you think you know, and could post a link to a pic, I would compare it. It was just an interesting specimen, and I would like to know what it was.

Anyways. It was maybe 1/4" long. It's body was a copper color and actually shiny and sparkly. And it had shiny gold spots on it. The location is the Au Train river in Au Train, MI.

Sorry its not that great of a description, but if anyone has any ideas that would be great.

thanks

Thanks for the quick reply! I think it was a tortoise beetle. But do you have a link to a page with more traditional beetles?

It may have looked like this but bronze, black and gold.
