i'm just back from the vets and Wendle, my yearling woma python has a mild upper respiratory infection:(...i have to give him injections of antibiotics over the course of this week and he goes back to the vet for a follow-up on monday...

i'm not usually one to ask but if you guys could keep him in your thoughts i'd really appreciate it...i really love the little guy and hopefully the medicine does it's job and we can clear this thing up without further complications

thanks guys

Harvey, did the vet tell you to keep the enclosure dry?? Womas, I am sure you know, come from Australia. They usually live in dry, arid environments. Hope it heals, and don't let the vet take you for your money. Just my opinion.

yeah i already knew about keeping them dry...i always thoroughly research my animals before i buy them...thanks for the concern though:)...

he's had two courses of the antibiotics now and he seems to be doing much better...he's no longer wheezing and he's acting much more inquisitive...in short he's being a lot more like the snake he was before he got sick...so things seem to be looking good:)

I work at a pet store, Preuss Pets in Lansing, Mi, and am currently treating a six foot boa constrictor for an upper respiratory infection as well.
We took him in as a rescue as the gentleman who found him crossing a street here in Lansing had absolutely no idea what to do with him.
Shortly after he arrived, (by which I mean a couple of days), he had bubbles in his mouth, raspy wheezy breathing and was doing some pretty odd stargazing.
Now we have him on shots (I think piperacillin) every three days.
Just like your little woma, I am confident that he will fully recover, like so amny that I have treated over the years.
Upper respiratory infections can get pretty serious, especially if not treated, but I don't think that I ever lost a snake to it once treatment began.
Just the same, your beautiful snake will be in my thoughts and I am rooting for him.
Once he's feeling better, you should take and post some pics, cuz damn that is one pretty species of snake!!
