My female rosie molted on Sat Jan 30th...it has been almost a week, and she hasnt wanted to move from her molting mat...im not sure if it was normal or not...I just didnt know if she just knows shes not fully hardened from her molt and is just sitting up there until she knows she has fully hardened...Anything on it would help and ill get some pics up soon of her {D

Thanks

Where did she molt, in her hide? Has she moved her pedipalps or legs at all, like stretching, etc. Have you gently nudged a back leg a bit with a paintbrush or something similar to get a response? What position is she in?

Have you seen her move any? Has she flipped back over? If yes and she is just chilling on the mat.. She will probably stay there for a while.. When my G. rosea molted.. She didnt move from her molt mat for 2 weeks..

No she molted on top of her house..I have it set up where its like a hill..she has moved..She'll stretch all out and move now and then, but she hasnt come off the molting mat and moved around her tank for water or anything. I went to put some water in her tank a moment ago, and I accidnetally spooked her..she moved off the mat and all..but went right back to it a few moments later. I just didnt know if it was normal for them to just stretch out and chill on top of their molting mats after theyve molted..but I also know Rosies have very odd behaviors. I just wanted to make sure she was alright and see if anyone has has their Ts have this behavior as well...

Cool thanks {D happy to hear that..Then ill probably wait until she feels like shes ready to move around her home, before I start feeding her. I dont want to toss in a stampede of crickets before she is ready to start eating..

I would wait atleast a week before offering any kind of food to your tarantula... Giver her some time to harden..

Make sure her fangs have turned fully black before attempting to feed. Depending on size this could take up to 2 weeks like mine did. Glad she's doing well;G. roseas live to freak us out, I think:p

Is it laying all stretched out? Generally adult Ts will take longer to harden than slings, so the best way(IMO) to tell when it is time to feed; is to look for their hunting pose. Which means not stretched out but almost looks poised to move at any moment. Here is where explain the pose with picture demonstration. If you get to know T behavior, it gets pretty easy to spot when they are ready to eat after a molt.:)
