In a previous thread, I mentioned that my lil B. smithi was not eating. She was a recent addition to my collection, and I had inquired if her lack of appetite was maybe stress-related. Nope!!! She molted and grew substantially. I bought her a few days ago at about 1.5"....she's about 2-2.5" and quite a sight!!!! I'll have pics and an accurate measurement here in a couple of days. :D

Hey Xsyorra, did your smithi also burrow and not come out for weeks? That's the situation I'm dealing with now with my Smithi, and I don't have enough experience to understand what's really happening ...

My B.smithi has molted three times since i have had her and will burrow and hide for weeks before she actually molts. This is common and i was always lucky she burrowed next to the side of her enclosure so i could check on her.The burrowing is normal and it just requires patience.:)

No, she didn't do that. I got her a week and a half ago, and she hadn't had time to adjust to the new surroundings before molting. She dug a small pit outside of her hide, and laid there for 2 days. Hasn't eaten yet, but is full of life and measures at 2.5"

My .75" P. irminia sling molted this past wednesday. It made a burrow a week and a half ago, and hasn't been out since. This morning, I coaxed it out of its burrow, and it teleported from its burrow up, the side of its housing, and onto the underside of my hand. Beautiful coloration on the abdomen, and a good 1.25" to boot!! Woo-Hoo!!
Now, both my .75" C. fasciatum and .5" A. versicolor slings are going into pre-molt.....what an awesome week!!!!!

Correction - it's my Chaco that has burrowed for 4 weeks not, NOT the Smithi (sorry, I'm getting confused with all these arachnids all over the house!!) - the Smithi molted last Sunday, in the privacy of his hide, and proper housekeeper that he is, the "took out the trash" for me to pick up outside his hide Monday morning, thus confirming the molt hahahah - he hasn't been out long enough for me to admire the results - he's going to have to come out eventually because he'll outgrow the hide! I think he ate a cricket last night for the first time since the molt (the cricket I put into the enclosure last night is nowhere to be seen today so I'm just assuming ...) - I guess this is all going to take some getting used to.
