I just couldent help laughing at this little fella when i was feeding him.
Some things can be hard 2 swallow.
But normally it wouldent be food u were talking about, but words :D

Before he got the earthworms, he just ate a semi-adult male dubia.
Maybe that was the one kicking the worm back up?? :? hehe

That is really cute!! Its amazing how good he is at catching those worms!! I think theres something wrong with mine.
I have a big ole pixie that cannot.. CAN NOT for the life of him catch anything.. We call him Lurch because he lurches around after things and never can catch them. I end up having to hold it infront of him and poke it in his mouth when he lurches.

Hmmm...that dosent sounds good
What about when it was young...could it catch its prey then??
But as he/she is right now, it sure wouldent survive in the wild by its own.
But if your pyxie chases its prey, it cannot be blind at the least.
Maybe it just needs glases?? :D
The same goes for people when there vision is not normal. Then u might have a hard time grapping things or jugdeing distance.
U see that often in old people and that might be the same with your frog...like u said, its really old :?
But im only guessing here.

Anyway....here is a little vid from when i just got my Pyxie and thats just 1 month ago. Just 1½inces.
It has some really sick reflexes.
Look at 4.10 in the video when i throw 1 isopod in there. The frog almost dosent move and shoots out its tung too the one side, catching the isopod almost when it hits the ground.
That is pretty amazing i think.

He/she has never been able to catch anything. Complete spaz.. Its about 4" across now after a year. Growing slowly, but I feed it as much as I can and leave stuff in his bowl to eat.. which sometimes, after much trying, he is able to catch. If the darn thing wasnt so cute, Id give up.

I love how adept at catching things yours is. Lets me know that not all pyxies are spaztic. :)

hahaha...sorry...but its just funny the way u talk about the frog :D
But it sounds 2 me like u either have a Female giant pyxiefrog or a dwarf pyxiefrog.
Both only gets like around 5" when fully grown.
If u had a male giant and u were feeding it like u are saying, then it should be around 7" now.
Its also only the females that looks cute.
The males looks really badass and mad in a cool scary kind of way.

Try and post some pictures here if u want and ill try 2 see if i can tell u what it is or maybe someone else can :)

Yes i also love that i got a really healthy frog that seems to have some cool skills :)

The frog at 4:10 is ridiculous.  :worship:
Thx m8 :)
Yaa its amazing how fast these things can be, when we all know how slow and clumsy these guys also are some times :D
Some frog u see, u wonder how the would survive in nature because the just seems so stupid, and other frogs looks like super predators...even within the same species :?

I think youre right. That it is female. It croaks once every month or so, but its head is small so Im thinking female. OH and no yellow on the tummy.
AAWWWWWWWWWWW isnt She-it CUTE!!! (no pun intended) High maintenance in the feeding department, yes, but worth it!

Given the circumstances about it not having grown more in one year and now the pictures, ill say u have a female right there in about 95 times out of 100 :)
But "she" sure is cute :D
Thats what so nice in the females....some of them like yours have those big Bambi-eyes :)
But on the positive side, u get 2 do the "fun part" longer time then me, since my frog is done eating in a couple of min. :(
But i cant tell u if its a giant or dwarf.
But if u go too the fatfrogs.com and post pics in the forum, the will tell u 4 sure :)

It's a giant for sure. Dwarf's have darker coloration and look very different. Google "dwarf pyxie" and look at the 1st and 3rd pic.
