Here are some photos of my parrot, his name is Chingo. It's pronounce "cheen~gu", it means a friend in Korean.

Here he's trying eat the camera lens

He dances when he's happy, I happen to get a picture of him in the middle of his "happy dance"

Thats an awesome bird. He's very cool.
Does he talk? How old is he?
My mom wants an african grey like that but If we get one where gonna get a male because I heard that the birds favor there own gender. Does yours?

Sam,
If its going to be your mom's bird then you want a male.
They don't favor their own gender.
I think that was a type-o..
My female likes guys, and bites girls. LOL:eek:

I think it's more of the Amazons that have a gender preference. The greys seem to like certain people (hard to tell which ones sometimes).
He's about 10 years old now. I lost count of how many words he knows. The last count was around 300. But then he started saying whole sentences and making sound effects. They're great birds, a bit pricey but if you find a breeder they are much cheaper and usually much more socalized. The pet stores don't socialize the birds much but with a breeder, they get lots of TLC.
I didn't teach him any words except for "hello". After that, he just picked up words all by himself. Be prepared though, my parrot even picked up bad words and seemed to only repeat them when company came over! There was no way to explain that one since he repeated the words in my voice:8o =D

I would get a male too since the females tend to lay eggs with or without a mate when they mature. The only way to tell if it's a male though, is surgically unless you get an older bird. I would recommend getting a younger one since it bonds better to the owner and you won't have the behavior problems that some older birds develope. It's easier to prevent a behavior problem than to try and get rid of the behavior in birds.

I expect to see pictures if you get one!

I almost forgot.
You can visually tell with Congo greys if they are male or female by the size of the beak (most of the time)
The females will have smaller beak with their head size and the males tend to have a bulky, larger beak.
And you can tell the younger birds by the color of their eyes. In Greys and lots of parrots, the birds will have black or very dark colored eyes when they are fairly young. The eyes begin to lighten and finally turn a bright yellow or almost white when they are adults.
There are also the Timneh greys that are smaller, darker grey, darker maroon tail, and a lighter colored beak but they are considerably less in price. They are pretty much the same in personality but they like to imitate higher pitched sounds.
Greys are not noisey birds, but if they hear a sound they like (like the microwave beeper) be prepared to hear it for days!=D

very nice bird...

My male prefers men, however...any man that comes over here he loves best, except in my house he is my bird and loves me best-my bf is too loud and big and scarey for him.

It isn't that the larger birds prefer their the opposite sex as it is they become attatched to one person over others and tend to like that sex best. Some species as well as individuals are better about tolerating anyone but the majority do show a preference.

Mine's that way too! He doesn't always like my hubby or my brother in law but he LOVES me:D I think it helped that I finished weaning him and I hand fed him for a month. He always regurgitates on me, that's real love!

nothing like regurgitated sunflower seed dripping off the hand to let you know how much they care!

I sure am glad that none of my other animals do that to me, I couldnt handle being loved that much!
Dino always does that to me!
