I took him to the vet today, and got xrays...he's got some sort of blockage in his intestinal tract. Either that, or a tumor of some sort.
I just noticed it yesterday, I've never seen a lump like that on him before.
He's sluggish too. My vet suggested soaking him in lukewarm water as much as possible through tomorrow, and to call a specialist if he's not better.
I can't afford surgery for him, so I hope it's not too serious.
I spent $108 today on him for the exam and xrays....
Anyone had this happen before?
You can see the lump is pretty far down, so it's in his intestine, not his stomach.

I soaked the little guy again today...he's remarkably cooperative, for a water hater. I don't think he's feeling too good. I've got an appt with the specialist on Monday, it was the soonest I could get him in. He doesn't seem to be in much pain, so that is good.

he's full grown, so I'm guessing just under 3' or so.
I'm just going to keep soaking him daily till Monday if he'll allow it, it seems to make him feel better....

Bad News

Charm went to the specialist today. He believes that it's a tumor, or possibly an abcess. Either way, no way to determine what it is outside of exploratory surgery. Which will cost approx $400-500 total. And no guarantee of being able to save him.
I can't afford to even do the surgery at that cost. The only other possible option, which is really not much of an option, is to put him on massive doses of antibiotics, in case it's an abcess of the bowel wall, and hope that it might possibly make it better. 6-8 weeks worth of shots daily. I can't see torturing the poor little guy like that.
So, he's going to have to be euthanized.
I can't even convey how upset I am by this, and the fact that I feel like a horrible person, because I can't come up with the money to do the surgery.
Sorry to vent, I just had to get it out. :( :(

RIP Charm

he's gone...poor little thing..and poor me
I have to pick up his little body at my vet's today, so we can bring him home for the funeral that Shelby wants to have for him. Don't think we'll be getting another snake for a very long time...maybe ever.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. I know how it feels. Keep your head up and be try to thankful that you got to spend the time with your snake that you did. I'm sure you treated him awsome and chances are no one could have givin him a better life than what you gave him.

I'm very sorry about your loss. I know how you feel. :( You did all that you could for the little guy, and he was treated well in the time that he was in your care.

So sorry for your loss, Holley. :(

How is Shelby dealing with this? Please don't feel guilty for not having the necessary funds - you did EVERYTHING in your power to help Charm, and that is more than many people would ever do.
