Well, I have been overseas the past 2 weeks. Normally when I go away I'm pretty happy to leave all my animals with some food and lots of water and they survive my trip.. For this fortnight I was very nervous 'cause I was leaving 10 slings at home all alone for 2 whole weeks.
So I got home and the first thing I did was check on them to see if they'd made it. All of them made it, and 7 of them even shed their skins and are looking very pretty!! Smiles all round.
I moved into the other room, my mantid has shed too, how good is that.
Opened my little pedeling tubs and they were nowhere to be found ... Moved to my wolfspider tank, it was dead , my big female scorp was out but seemed sluggish and all the scorp tanks were bone dry so they got a thorough soaking. Moved to my adult Glenelva's tank (there are photos of her here somewhere) to soak her substrate too and I saw her out and about - how odd.
I opened the lid and there she was, not in a death curl, but lying all crumpled and rotten ... It was so weird, it was like she was walking around, had a rest and just ran out. I got her for my 14th birthday as my first T and she sparked what (some of you know) is a real love for inverts, and she is dead! I never thought I'd care that much about a pet I never saw but it really really upset me. I have no idea how it happened...
I'll post some pics up tomorrow of the new moults and the ol' gal too.
All in all out of the collection there were "only 4 casualties" as mum put it. The wolfie I'm not too cut up about, but I really loved that T and was looking forward to raising those pedelings..
