That is a glossy snake, Arizona elegans. I have often found them on rather cold and windy nights when no other self respecting snake could be found. I once found seven or eight glossy snake neonates and a couple adult glossy snakes in an otherwise cold and uneventful night of herping. Interesting snakes.
