My new Lavidium!

Got this guy today when i went in to my local store.

Cost 70€, but what a treat to watch. Wasnt gonna get it at first cause I thought it was too expensive. On moving him to a different tank in the shop I found out about the fearce reputation. Aggresive but a pleasure to watch.

Its about 3.5" at the mo. Any idea what sort of age it could be?

Will have to wait for molt before sexing.

This dude deserved a hardy name so I first thought of Begbie( the psycho from trainspotting) but settled for Souron.(the Dark Lord!).:worship:

Thats a good looking Cobalt any idea on what sex it is? I'd say if it is 3.5" it is a Sub-Adult but can't really tell if it's WC.

if you mean the guy from LOTR its Sauron, but good name anyway. Really beautiful spider, how deep is the substrate though, alot of times in petstores they dont keep them in deep burrows like the need.

That is a gorgeous Haplopelma lividum (note proper spelling). Although I can't tell the depth of the substrate from the picture, H. lividium is a burrowing species and will need substrate around 1.5 times the legspan of the spider. After it makes it's burrow, you will hardly ever see it!

Substrate is 4" deep at the mo, will get more at the weekend.

Very nice! 9" of substrate is enough for her to make a very nice burrow.

Yeah, you have a very nice looking spider, and I like your set-up too. What kind of plant is that? I bet an avic would love it!
