She's an arboreal, so she'll want to have a high spot. I put in a silk plant like a tree and mine settled right in! Lots of humidity, lots of air flow.

Good luck!

She is also trying to get used to her new home give her time to get used to it like in a week or 2 and then if you want to try to hold her get a paint brush and rub it on her and see if she is still skiddish.

Yeah...

I agree, give her some time to adjust. I have eight A. avics and they are just the most docile T's around IMHO. If you want to handle, give it a while to adjust and then pick the evening when they are a little more active and test the waters by nudging the rear of the abdomen with a soft paintbrush. Be advised they are really fast and will readily jump so handle it close above some surface. Oh and once they are out, they can be a handful trying to get back in their cage:) Just be careful and don't breathe on it and watch where you talk because your breath can startle it and it will go from your hand, up your arm, and onto your back in a second. Not to hi-jack your post, but here's a photo of how cool they are:

Hey

I agree Avic. avic is IMO a really nice tarantula that
every one overlooks and son't get the respect that it deserves.

You are going to be really satisfied with it and fallow what rob said on this.

they're fast but not at all agressive. They're really clean and pretty.

Well any ways you said she bit you?...are you sure it's an Avic. avic? if you do infact have and avic you got a Rare one indeed.

any ways have a nice day

she seems to be settling in okay still skittish. there was no puncture but i think it was because of the move to new surroundings. she is only 1-1.5" and very very very fast. got a good 20 gal high aquarium with a log and foliage for her. she bathes herself everyday. it is amazing to watch. every pink foot gets about a minute of cleaning. i am trying to get some pics to post. she is absolutely amazing. thanks for all the help.
