I traded my P. nigricolor pair for a pair of dwarf retics. They are about 3 feet and about 14 months old. Didn't know if I was going to keep them but after a few hours I knew I couldn't let them go. They are very docile and absolutely gorgeous!

Nice looking tics. Who bred those? They have interesting colors for dwarf retics. They lack the silver/green hue of most the Jamps I have/had.

Jason and I are going to start next weekend. I moved the T room around and made some room in the basement for a very nice enclosure. It'll take a few weeks with the wiring and all but it should turn out nice. Enclosure should be close to 8ft. x 6ft. x 7ft. when we are done.

I was told they are Buton Dwarf Retics. Not sure on who bred them. I got them from a local guy who got them from a trade. Can't be sure of that though...

I did some searching before I picked them up but did not find any info on dwarf Buton retics (I found mostly Jampea dwarfs). I wasn't quite sure if these were actually Buton's or not considering this is my first retic pair I had nothing else to compare to. I know he picked them up from the Wheaton, IL herp show a week or so ago. If there is a difference I'd love the info.

They could still be a dwarf variety. Not Jamps, but still a dwarf. I have one that appears to be a dwarf with similar colors to yours above. She is going on 2 and she is not yet 7 feet. As a fresh WC baby she was much smaller than my normal retic hatchlings.

Mine are a lot smaller than my friends normal hatchlings were at a year old. The guy I got them from is usually right on with what he has available. I'll just watch their growth over the next few months. Do you have a pic of your WC retic?

Here she is as a baby when I first picked her up in 2007 followed by a couple more recent shots. The body coloration looks similar I think, but the yellow head coloration is absent on this mine. (They are indoor photos taken with flash, so the color on mine don't look quite right). The last 2 pics are of a Jampea dwarf to show the difference in color.

Thanks for the pics. She does look a lot like mine. I was told they were Buton Island retics. When I looked that name up I saw that the Buton retics were also refered to as yellow headed retics. Which may or may not be why mine have more yellow on the heads compared to yours or if they are the same local.

How long do adult dwarf retics get at full size in feet?

A large female dwarf Jampea can get to 14 feet. Some stay smaller. The super dwarf retics stay even smaller than that.

Wow great color! I've heard of the "Madu" or "Honey Island" dwarfs being really nice and vibrant like that. Never heard of "Buton" local.
