Thought I'd post a couple pics of my new spiders.

First, the Avicularia metallica:

And then, the spiderling:

I really hope the spiderling makes it. I know the mortality rates are higher for them. Wish me luck!

[Edited because the original pictures were gigantic]

The spiderling was a freebie that came with the avic metallica. I wasn't expecting it and was totally stoked when I found out I got an extra spider.

I ordered from Southern Spider Works, who did an awesome job packing everything up. Both were alive and healthy when they arrived.

Avic metallicas are some nice looking spiders indeed.

The spiderling is eating. Makes me feel better. It had just been curled up in a corner for two days previously. Gave it cut up cricket parts.

Congrats on the new additions.

Just make sure to not keep the G. aureostriata too moist and you'll be fine. Keep it in a small container and occasionally drip some water down the sides. No misting. It's a fairly slow-growing species, but is also pretty hardy. Good luck with them. :)

It's in the small vial it came it. Ample room for it at this size. Thanks for the advice on water. I'll try not to keep it too wet, and no misting.

And thanks, Joe. I always thought they were gorgeous, which is why I jumped at the chance to get one when I saw it. Especially since it was a female for sale.

Yes, but from this size (2nd/3rd instar?) it will grow to 2.5-3" relatively quickly, even compared to many other genus, under average room conditions, you can expect 4-5 molts within a year for this size. Then it slows down a lot... on the other hand, when you say slow growing Grammo, you can't beat G. pulchra...

Nice additions BTW!
