I bought this guy at the Ok City rep show for $5. He's about 2 inches long. I didn't even know antilles pinktoe were arboreals at the time. (guess I didn't do enough research) And when I took the lid off of his cage to try and feed the other T [Rex], he started climbing and got to the top and I barely got my hand infront of him in time to catch the fearless bugger. Now having him in my hands, the poor little guy thinks he is a frog and starts leaping out of my hands and onto my bed. And when I walk him in my hands he'll be walking casually one moment and the next he'll start flailing his legs and speeding up, its actually kind of funny. (thats where he got his name) It's almost like he is dancing or something... just flailing them legs like crazy and jumping... quite a flighty little guy really. After about 3 minutes of playing tag I finally get him to sit still in my hand and put him back in his enclosure. Talk about a workout... Thankfully he isn't agressive, but then again most pinktoes aren't I hear.

One question:

His right front leg (the one with the tibial spur or whatever) is a lot more thin compared to all his other legs. What caused that do you think? Will it be regular size on the next molt? I'll take a picture of Mr. Flails sometime considering his vibrant colors are so pic-worthy. :D

Spiderlings are prone to losing legs when they are very small.
When this happens, the leg will regenerate at the next moult - your A. versicolor probably lost a leg a while ago, and it has only regenerated recently.
Don't worry, it will soon be back to normal size.

Avicularia are not generally aggressive but they can be rather nervous. Watching them jump is very amusing, although it can be unsettling if you don't expect it. I have noticed that nearly all arboreals do the "waving walk" when they get to the edge of your hand, or a branch for example. Seeing a full size Poecilotheria do this never fails to amuse me. :)

Not sure I read this correctly, but I thought you can't keept T's together unless you are breeding them, won't one get eaten?

Thanks

I use critter keeper cages for now until I can afford better things. They both live in the same cage but there is a seperater wall in the middle so it almost acts as two cages.

while some people keep their Poecs or Avics together with no harm now, there's always the chance.. and its a big one..

invariably there will be cannibalism.... however, thats not to say it can't be done, since it can... but its a fine line (even if you keep them well fed).

its really up to the discretion of the keeper, of course. I think most of us subscribe to the "one T, one cage" rule.

i'm sure it can be done with much success, but for me, i'll keep my fuzzy bugs separate :)

good luck
