My Brachypelma boehmei had been in pre molt since the early weeks of January. It had the normal not eating disposition, dark opisthosoma, and the closer to molt time the darker it's legs got as well. Late night on 02/17 I noticed the T was shaking and moving oddly on and off and I figured it was molt time. The next day at around 10 PMish, I noticed the same behavior and not long after I saw this:
I was having issues with lights, flash, and acrylic, so I cut the pics down to this one. Next molt I'll have a play-by-play of all the action. The molt took about 2 hours ending at 1 AM.
It looks like my lil Fuego went from about 2" to 2.5" which doesn't seem like a great deal of growth, but I guess these guys aren't fast growers...
And I always thought that my boehmei was a girl, but I may be wrong. I couldn't get the camera to do what I wanted, but do you think you can scope this out and let me know for sure? When he's (?) more settled I'll take some ventral shots for the sexing forum.
All in all a successful first molt that went without a hitch. Now I can't wait for the next one!
