Really? in my experience they respond best to the movement of crickets. He can live without his palps as long as he’s not “bleeding” from the wounds. You’ll likely need to feed him prekilled as he will have a harder time grabbing food. I prekill for all my MM anyway as they seldom eat.
My current 3 responded to live prey less and less, as well, that’s not what they are looking for. Also, hunting down a feeder that a MM wasn’t interested in is never fun. Will he eat or not this time is always a crap shoot.Really? in my experience they respond best to the movement of crickets.
Looks like he's still hunting and eating! My current 3 responded to live prey less and less, as well, that’s not what they are looking for. Also, hunting down a feeder that a MM wasn’t interested in is never fun. Will he eat or not this time is always a crap shoot.
Fabulous news!Looks like he's still hunting and eating!
Sorry if this is a stupid question but can they regrow pedipalps if they molt again? This male will no longer be able to breed due to the lost of both his pedipalps. So he cannot be used for any breeding purposes. But he can still live the rest of his life out until the end.
Not a stupid question at all, I am curious as well! It may be unprecedented?Sorry if this is a stupid question but can they regrow pedipalps if they molt again?
this little dude hasnt said its last word. He definitely isnt done with life yet it seems.View attachment 488741
I'm impressed not just by his maintained appetite but how fast he is at killing crickets without pedipalps.
