I traded for this "Male" P. striata a while back, I never sexed him by vent and he looked very male. "He" looked very male by the folio (very dark line) and "He" molted and did not mature, so I peeked in and saw "him" and thought no way that is a male (at 7" he would have more than likely matured). Well as you can see below he isn't, he is a she!!

Here is the girly parts LOL:

She still has a pretty dark folio, was a LOT darker than this before the molt:

Here she is:

I have a female that looks the same way. I keep telling myself I'm sure she's a girl (sexed by molt) even though she looks like a boy from the dorsal pattern.

very nice, the folio on P. striata is usually always dark, doesnt get fully white like regalis or pederseni. there are exceptions though..

I wish I had a pic of her before the molt, the line was black.......and she wasn't very colorful....when I saw the colr she had (not that you can judge sex by color) I knew "he" was a she!

For some weird reason, some sp of Pokies are very easy to sex ventraly, some others not at all. On my ornatas for example, there is a clear white lips visible in the genital area, and all of the individuals featuring this were total females.

On the other hands, I have a certified female rufilata that doesn't show it at all, and I always failed to properly sex P metallica!

I took my girl cat to the vet once and found out it was a boy. With, vet's terms, micro-testicles!!!

I hope my rufilata that "looka like a man" turns out to be a girl.:D

Awesome! I want these after I get my first 3 favorite pokies. I got to look how much in price these guys go for in relation to the other pokies first.

Congrats on the awesome female T snag and looking forward to seeing any sacs from her.. ;){D
