My Killifish

Raised and bred quite a few killifish species in the past couple of years, mostly African annuals and some South American Annuals.
Sold the majority of the killies I raised while I was in college to pay off some fees as well as to lighten the amount of pets I was caring for at the time (129 fish, 10 different tanks ranging from 10gals to 120 gals).

I did keep a batch of Aphanius.mento Zengen eggs I got from a breeder in Spain though.
These guys are about a year old, started with 20 eggs, but they picked off each other when they were smaller. Got 12 left, 7 males 5 females, aggression between them seems to have disappeared. Anyhow, here's two pics I took of them after a some tank maintenance and a water change.

10 gallon setup, moss and hair algae and sponge filter. Apologize about the poor quality pics, lighting in the room wasn't great and pics were taken with my cellphone. The tank pretty much feeds the fish, the hair algae grows and the fish feed off the sides of the tank (once in a while they'll nibble at the ends of the java moss, like little hedge clippers lol). I do feed them every other day with Northfin Krill gold pellets (2mm), Northfin Veggie formula (1mm) and occasionally freshly hatch bbs.

I'll try getting some better pics some time this week. Most of the killies were hiding in the moss "mountain" after the water change. The males are usually jet black with intense blue markings around their eyes, lateral stripes and spotting on their pectoral fins and tail (two of my smaller males flaring off at the bottom center of pic 2). My pics really don't do justice for the fish, I'd suggest searching "Aphanius.mento Zengen" up on Google :)

Killies are so cool. The blue on them is really intense, and a nice contrast with their pale bodies. You have some beautiful fish there!

Thanks! They look even better when their breeding colors are in, the males turn jet black and their blue gets even more intense.
I'm getting some more killifish eggs later this month, species include: Nothobranchius.guentheri red Zanzibar, Nothobranchius.rachovii Beira 98, Simpsonichthys.zonatus and Spectrolebias.costai Aruana.
Trying to find some eggs of Spectrolebias Sao Miguel do Araguaia as well. The Sao Miguel do Araguaia locality have a richer black coloration compared to the Aruana, as well as different patterning.

Nice looking fish. Mississauga...is that in the vicinity of Lake Opinicon? I did an internship up there at the Queens University Biological Station. One of the best summers of my life! Beautiful place.

Edit: Looks like it's a ways away, but maybe you're familiar with it anyway?

Thanks! Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Lake Opinicon, but it looks gorgeous.
On another note, I did find a breeder whom I've purchase some Spectrolebias.Costai Sao Miguel do Araguaia eggs from.
