My jewel cichlids have spawned

They are very entertaining, because they do parenting things, and want all the babies to stick together. So they constantly patrol the tank, sucking up stray fry into their mouths and spitting them out into the middle of the cloud of wrigglers. The photo does not do justice (by a long shot) to the brilliant red breeding colours of the adults.

Very nice, these are beautiful fish in their prime. I have read that pairs sometimes have compatibility issues, did you notice any with your pair?

Congrats, but I laugh at you. Why? Because when jewels start spawning, they almost never stop....you could have well over 1500 fry over the next 6 months.

My pair didn't act like a pair until I gave them a cave.

Toirtis, I have an oscar.

Haha....I had 3 pairs of red forest jewels a couple of years back that helped keep my bichirs fed...despite being the most stunningly red jewels I have ever seen, it didn't take long for me to saturate the local market and have 100% surplus.

I expect I'll lose some, since I'm not taking any precautions whatever. If I can sell some locally, sure, why not, but I figure I'll just be feeding them to my oscar. I anticipated the problem of endless fry before I bought them.
