My mare is 18 years old. Not a baby anymore, lol. She's had her picture taken with a bajillion different cameras in her time, even cameras with flash! Today, however, my normally unflappable horse decided that the camera was the most frightening thing that ever existed. lol It was more of a game than anything - she'd come toward me, I'd snap a picture, and she'd bolt away. I was laughing so hard that I got a headache.

My horse is no idiot, she's just a goof. She PRETENDS to eat grass (puts her nose on the ground, but concentrates on what's going on behind her and doesn't actually eat) and steals things (picks up buckets by the handles and runs, etc).

Trying to pretend you're not behind me...also I'm not fat. I'm fluffy.

Oh, hey mom!

Do ya have any treats?

GAH A CAMERA!

Okay, okay, you have to have treats SOMEWHERE, right?

Why don't you put that stupid camera AWAY?!

Did you put it away yet?

Oh, cool, I don't see it yet...have cookies now?

CLEARLY we are not communicating well here! No treats, no pictures! (This picture is SO funny)

Heh, still hoping for treats

Now I'm sick of this!

Hrm...what's in the bucket...

Those pictures and captions are hilarious. Please forgive me for all these questions ... Have you had her for 18yrs? Are the other horses are yours too? Is that your "backyard?

I don't mind the questions. :)

No, I have not had her 18 years, but I have had her for most of her life. hehe I bought her with money from a summer job when I was 16 years old. She was a feisty 8 year old.

No, that is not my back yard. I live in a very suburban neighborhood. She is boarded at a friend's house. There's a nice barn and good pasture. The other horses belong mostly to the lady who owns the place, but there are two other boarded horses. It's a very small facility, which is nice.

Her mom was an Appendix Quarter Horse, her dad was a TB/Saddlebred OR TB/Standardbred (the guy who sold her to me wasn't sure...lol...hell maybe BOTH are in there somewhere). I don't honestly have a clue what she is. She's gaited. That's all I can tell ya.

She's at least half Throughbred then, I guess...lol but her coggins say she's a Saddlebred.

Let's just say she's just about the most bizarre grade horse that ever lived. I've pulled her mane and taken her to hunter paces and such and she did well. I've also thrown a western saddle on her and penned cows. She's CRAZY and moves like I-don't-know-what but she is brave, willing, and never tires.

Arent horses wonderful!!! They have the most unique personalities. Sometimes totally different from day to day! I have 11 horses. They range from 6 months up to 27 years. I own 12000 acres and 350 pair of cows so 8 of them get ridden regularly.
Yor horse is beautiful. Keep taking good care of her!!

That's great that you have both "grown up together". I'd be willing to bet that if she could "talk", there would would be quite a few stories ;)

hahahaha I am sure of that.

I really should try to get a video of her "pretending" to eat grass. Hysterical.

Yeah, I can see the saddlebred/standardbred in her but not the quarter horse. :) Otherwise she looks more thoroughbred. What type of gaits does she do? It's awesome that she is so versatile!

Well, she can kinda look a little quarter-horsey when she stands still, but never EVER when she moves. lol She's more TB than anything else, though I THINK...the guy I bought her from didn't really seem to have any idea what she was, though...it was almost like he was making it up as he went along.

She racks - or sort of racks. It's not exactly well-executed. She'd rather trot than anything else. It's a hoot to watch the horses run up from the back pasture. The others are all cantering, and goofball Allie is trotting like crazy, hind legs wide and flailing. lol She only gaits when she's being ridden, and usually only when she's being disobedient or before she canters.

Like I said, she's an oddball. lol

Yeah she is a sweetheart...as long as you have treats. lol She has no interest in people who don't bring her things to eat. :)

Last night I went to see her at like 10pm and gave her more than a few apples. She had APPLE DROOL. Ewww
